So about a month ago, I dropped my phone in water. I blew it with a blow dryer (I know this wasn't enough), and let it dry for a few weeks. The screen was already badly chipped when I dropped it in water, some parts of the glass were even chipped. After about a week of letting it dry, I let it charge for 1 hour. When I tried to turn the phone, I felt it vibrate (it always does this when it turns on), but the screen did not display anything. After about a minute, I began to touch the screen randomly to see if it responds. When I touched the screen, sometimes the phone would vibrate. I soon realized that this was me drawing a lock screen pattern. My phone always vibrates when I draw my lock screen pattern, but the LCD did not display anything. I knew my phone was still working at that point. Even trying to get into recovery mode I felt my phone vibrate. I already knew that my phone vibrates when I enter recovery mode. I eventually bought a screen and digitizer replacement for my phone. I installed it properly, and let it charge for another hour. When I tried to turn the phone on, it did the exact same thing! The phone responded to touch, but did not display anything. I even cleaned out the digitizer plug with rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush - didn't do a thing. I know this has to be some sort of bug. Can anyone help me with this? Any feedback is appreciated.

Alas, water damage is progressive and that may be the explanation in your case.
