This is a silly feature that either I am completely missing or marshmallow fails miserably on. I want to see who texts me, but I don't want to see a preview for privacy reasons. I went I to the advanced notifications for messages and it appears the options are there but the option to hide content and preview messages don't seem to allow just that feature like my old iPhone. Does anyone else have this setup just to see the name of the person texting?

    Hi !!

It would appear (as i just tried on my note 5) that this feature does not exist, hiding content, only shows "1 Message" Odd, but I"m sure there's a 3rd party texting app that allows this, like Go Text, Chomp...etc.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks! I just found textra and it had this option. That is strange something so simple is left of of the default messaging app. I will stick with this as it works pretty well. I just don't like giving a 3rd party so so many permissions!!
