Free SIM Card Unlocking?

[AC Question]

So, I bought my friend a new phone for her birthday, and I barely got all the money for it in time. I'm seriously broke right now.

Just after testing out the phone, I realised it's locked to the T-Mobile network! She is on another network though...

Please... please! Is there a way to unlock the phone manually (from home) for free? Her birthday's on Friday, and if I don't unlock it until then, I'm screwed!

Avoid sites that claim to offer free unlocking. Some at least will infect your PC or other device with malware or other bad stuff.
