I can't find my keyboard so I can only use the microphone to communicate

what happens when you open up a text message to compose? do you not get a keyboard popping up? have you went to the play store and downloaded a 3rd party keyboard like Google Keyboard?

Go to any text box and make sure it is waiting for your entry. Pull down the notification shade, there will be a select keyboard option. Click on it, make sure you choose the keyboard you were using, and not Google Voice typing.
