can i bypass the password on Note 10.1 to get passed the initial screen

It appears that a password has been added to the initial screen but is not one that I set up I can connect to the device using the google android device manage and get it to ring but nothing else. I tr
I have tried the password that my wife and I normally use for device around the house and none of them work. Slow I am guessing that my wife accidentally typed something into a password field not knowing she did and not the device is locked.
