I have a prepaid plan (which I prefer to use only for calls - not texts, which I use only on wifi) on my Android phone on which I installed Google Messenger recently as I liked the interface for sending and receiving texts. However, I was very disappointed to discover that my texts were going through my calling plan even though I was connected using Wi-Fi and had data turned off. It was as if I was using the phone's native messaging service to send texts. The only thing I did was use the carrier number in the settings but that should not have resulted in this! I thought that it would behave like TextMe which does not affect my calling plan in any way.
