I have heard that there is a simple method to view who has been called from an android phone even if the caller has deleted the called person from the call-log ... is this true and how?

Unless you're talking about NSA-level stuff, no. Calls are transient, then exist for as long as you're connected. If's possible that some carriers maintain records, but that's not on your phone. The call logs are kept in a database. If you can find the database file, find the "deleted" field and update that record's field (or the deleted field in all records) to "undeleted", you might have some luck. But once the database is compacted, the record is gone.
