Lollipop is the Android version 5.x.
What device. How did you acquire it. Was it not factory reset before you bought it. Since Android 5 the seller will need to remove their account by factory resetting in the Settings menu. If the screen is locked and you cannot do that, by Factory resetting from the hardware buttons Google's Factory Reset Protection kicks in (should a device be stolen) and it would still require the previous Google account log in to function.

This is a security feature to protect the phone, and the information included in it, in case it gets stolen. If you, inadvertently, bought a stolen phone there's no way to bypass this process, so that device is completely useless for you and dear for the original owner.
