So I have a phone I broke when trying to change out the battery (Moto X 2014).. Now I have a broken phone that won't power on, but it still has data on it, some of it confidential.

I was hoping to sell it for parts, but not with data on it.. If I trade it in to a company like Amazon (if they'd even give me anything for a broken phone), do they wipe the data?

Thanks!

If the phone isn't working due to a motherboard problem, they replace the motherboard - which is where the data is. Where it goes from there is anyone's guess. And if that's the problem, it's probably not worth the repair price.

Well, I sent it in for repair.. The repair estimate was $125, but if it goes above that, I'm not gonna authorize the repair.
