Samsung S5 ringing but not correctly

When called, the proper ring tone sounds for a very short time and then stops (sounds "funny" as it stops). Then, after a brief pause, it will go back to ringing again. This cycle repeats for as long as the phone is ringing.

I have tried restarting the phone, changing the ring tone, etc. with no effect. It has not always done this.

Play just that ringtone and see if the recording of the ringtone got a piece chopped out of the middle.

As I mentioned, it happens with all ring tones. They play correctly when played as an audio file in any audio app. The problem only occurs when they are playing as a ring tone.

The solution is to turn off using voice command to answer/end calls.

On my S5, that option is not available through the main "Settings" icon as it is on other phones. On the S5 you need to bring up the "Phone" app and then:
Menu button / settings / Answering/Ending calls
Then uncheck the Using voice commands box. Done.
