I have had my Galaxy S7 for about a week and love it. But today, my contacts are acting strange. Most of my contacts are now in the contact list twice. Some, the ones I use most, have completely disappeared out of contacts. None of the individuals in my contacts come up as their names on caller id or in text messages - only their number shows up. I have restarted the phone twice thinking it just needed a reboot, but nothing changed. Help.

My husband had the same issue with no help from tech support nor the service provider. Have you had any luck fixing this issue?

Assuming all your contacts are entered as Google contacts (they always should be), go to Google Contacts with a browser on a laptop or desktop (or prepare to go blind if you use phone). Click More. You can recover deleted contacts (deleted up to 30 days ago). You can also merge and eliminate duplicates. Then sync the phone and what's on the site will be on the phone.

(ONLY Google contacts go to the site, so contacts saved on the phone or on the SD card are what they are, and you'll have to fix them manually. I suggest that you export them, import them AS Google contacts, sync the phone, then go to the site and fix everything.)
