Why is my battery life on my S4 mini draining so fast and it is overheating?

I've been using it for about 4 days WITHOUT the sim card and it was working fine. I finally put my SIM card in and it started overheating, battery life draining so fast, and when i use 4g lte it is extremely slow. I use net10 with a At&T phone but it said it was suppose to work, please help, I got this phone for my birthday and I want to return it.

Sounds like you have a VERY weak signal from your carrier. That can increase battery usage a lot, which creates heat.

Are you using a Net10 AT&T SIM? (Net10 still uses AT&T's network if you do - if you use a Net10 TMobile SIM, the phone may not work or may not work well.)
