on-screen keyboard not showing

[AC Question]

xperia z ultra - cannot locate model # because of disappearance of numerical keyboard while on a call - the qwerty on-screen will not appear for email and etc. I've gone into settings, and all looks to be in working order. All else is working very well. Bought in January 2014. I tried navigating through the Sony help and after many attempts, have resorted to other means.
