Choosing Google Maps widget destination

I want to choose a destination on the map but the only option I see is typing in a location. How do I get to the map?

Other than that, if you've been there recently, pull the list down. Otherwise use MyDirections. (It seems to not find the location any more, unless you;re there, but sometimes you can move the map to the right location and force it to recognize your tapping on the screen.) That gives you a Contacts-like map front end - just choose the location and Navigate and it'll run Maps with the correct lat/lon.

I'm not sure from starting with the widget but if you long press on the map you can drop a red pin and get directions to that pin from your location.

Welcome to Android Central! Tapping the widget should open the main Google Maps app, where you can enter your destination as well.
