How can I unblock short number/premium sms messages on MarshMallow?

MMS is for attached files and, most times, emojis. It has nothing to do with text. I assume that your carrier is blocking that number because it's a "sent from only" number, like an email you get that tells you not to respond to the email (because there's no email receiving server at that address, so you'll never even get a notice that it couldn't be delivered).

A "premium" text message is usually just one that will cost you to send (which almost always means that it's going via MMS). ("SMS service" is actually voice handled by a different app because the packets contain text, not encoded voice. There's no separate "service" you'll usually find for it.)

Check with your carrier if all shot numbers fail. If it's just that one, call Vodaphone to ask.

I've also found this https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/WjO0Sz5N-ew;context-place=forum/nexus

"I found out the way to turn on again about asking premium sms with SAMSUNG S7
setting->app manager, them choose MORE, SHOW SYSTEM APP, them you should scroll down to find Message Service, tap on it. And you will see its permissions "Send premium text message""

But when i 'show system apps', 'Message Service' doesn't appear.

I notice that there is an Mmsservice, i searched in there but there was nothing to do with premium text messages. On the same thing, i decided to look for some form of sms service but i couldn't find anything like that either.

At last, thank you so much!

Hi! I have an issue with P10 and P9 Lite from Huawei. There is no Premium SMS service in Special Access tab. Premium SMS services have ben anabled as ''Always'' and now there seems to be no way to turn them off. I tired denying permissions to ''Messaging'', deleting cache from recovery and settings, deleting data from ''Messaging'' but to no avail.
There is no Premium SMS access in Special access in Apps settings.
Is factory reset the only way to restore this? P10 is on EMUI 5.1 and ANdroid 7.0. Anyone knows anything that could help?
Cheers
Ivan

Welcome to the forums. Have you already tried using the search option in the settings (magnifying glass top right) to look for the Premium SMS option?

Yes, I have tried searching with various parameters :D tried premium sms, just premium, just sms, paid, speical and so on. Nothing was found in the device, neither P10 nor P9 Lite. Mate 10 lite and Mate 10 Pro have the option in the special access tab but the upper two don't.

Weird! :) Can you find an app called Message Service or something similar in settings - apps - all/show system?

Another possibility could be resetting app preferences and see if this disable the option.

No, there is no Messaging servics either haha. Tried with reseting the prefetences and even with deleting data from messaging, restoring everything to default setting. Nothing helped on either of the devices...

Not sure what else to suggest. Those are the usual ways to change the Premium SMS permission, maybe there's something specific with those two models or even carrier related. Sorry.

Searched a little bit and found similar reports, all of them quite old when Marshmallow was pushed. It was fixed, including that option under the Special Access menu or via Message service app permissions/default. Very strange that those two phones didn't get that fix.

I guess factory reset is next :( A big price for such a problem, though. Before that you could clear data for the settings app (settings - apps - all - settings), but not sure if it will work.

You could also try using a new messaging app as default and see if you can block that option.

Premium SMS problem Huawei P9 lite.

I'm also a Huawei P9 lite user. No setting for SMS Premium (5 digit numbers). But, I try to download new SMS app via PlayStore. Can type SMS and others. I use 'Textra' special for SMS without using SMS application through HP. If the problem does not work, please check SMS Centre No.
Go to SMS - open Setting - open Advanced - open SMS Centre No. Maybe, SMS Centre No. has changed according to Plan Telco respectively.

Celcom : +60193900000
Maxis : +60-120000015
Digi : +60162999902
UMobile : +60181000108

That's my HP problem because SMS Centre No. which was previously different from above. You can google for other Plan Telco. Thank.
