The charger I have is a fairly cheap travel charger made by Cellet model I2H05A.

Basically yes. I kept a Samsung 1A charger from my Galaxy S2. The phone governs the input, so it won't do any harm to the phone.

A 1 Amp charger won't charge it as fast as possible, but it won't harm anything. (The phone probably can draw between 1.2 Amps and 1.8 Amps if the charger can handle it - which a 1 Amp charger won't.)
