How to transfer photos, videos, and music from HTC One M8 to Galaxy S7?

Tried direct usb connection with the adapter from the gs7, and no dice...tried smart switch and the devices connect for a split second, then both say "the device will now disconnect" then smart switch freezes and crashes.

Is there any way to get the stuff from the M8 to the gs7 besides manually copying from m8 > pc > gs7?

That's the best way (M8 < PC > S7), and it also gives you a backup of the files on the PC.

You can use WiFi File Transfer on one phone and a web browser on the other. (It doesn't matter which is which, but you'll be uploading if WFFT is on the M8 or downloading if it's on the S7.)
