Either the sim card is damaged or you don't have an active account with a network provider. If you have an active account try asking the provider for a replacement sim card.

Hello. You haven't specified exactly what happened. Had you been using it regularly for some time and this just happened.
    Is it a new sim?
    New device? Old device?
Are you in a good signal area.
Have you waited or can you manually install the apn (More Networks - Access Point Names) settings.

I'm not sure about the exact reason but I can think of some possible ones. It could be a problem with your SIM card or the card tray, a software bug or just a temporary glitch. Does the problem persist after a reboot? Have you already tried inserting a different SIM card? You could power the phone off, remove the card, insert it back in and power on.
