What is causing my battery to discharge rapidly when no apps are running?

A

AC Question

I do not use my phone for video watching or listening to music. I use it mostly as a phone, text messaging, and email/gmail. Yet something is running in the background draining my battery within hours. I replaced the battery and the same thing, about 12 hours until the battery is dead. I cannot determine what updates are running in the background and really, for what I use my phone for, what updates do I really need?

Welcome to the forums! We are going to need more information in order to help you. What phone do you have and which android version is it running? Go to settings - battery and take screenshots of the main stats, history details (after you tap on the main graph) and screen details. Also, tell us if you're using a SD card.

How is your signal strength?

Even if you don't have many apps running, if you are in an area with poor coverage than the battery will drain as the device keeps searching for a signal.
