Can you use tempered glass on a cracked screen

My daughter accidentally dropped her tablet from Verizon it is a LG Gpad X8.3 and the screen is cracked. You can't even do anything on the tablet because the screen is cracked. Would the tempered glass make it to were she would be able to use the tablet again?

Alas, I think not. I applied a screen protector to a cracked screen to hold the bits in place, but then, the touch sensitivity had not been affected....on your device, it has.
