Marshmallow is not synchronizing with Outlook

I do not use S planner. This question is not pertain to Outlook.com. I am specifically referring to the entering of an appointment within my device. Note 5 and expecting it to transfer the appointment onto my Outlook calendar for synchronization. I would like to have synchronization of devices as in the office 365 2016. Suite. Currently, the contacts are divided, whereas I am only receiving those within Outlook and an I am not receiving the contacts within the Gmail account. I have spent numerous hours with Samsung technical support and I am unable to get the proper settings. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I would prefer to use just one calendar on my device. Preferably, the Outlook calendar. However, I cannot see an option to set a default calendar and therefore it appears that the Google calendar is the only option. Thank you in advance.

There are apps that sync the two - Android phones do not sync with Outlook natively.
