So I just ordered the S6 but realized my current phone utilizes a micro sim card and not a nano which is required by the Galaxy. Eventually I will have switch to the newest sim type I guess but would it be possible to bypass the setup wizard process or even just go through it without a sim card? So I could use all the features of the S6 except as a phone?

Hello. Sure. Just enter your Google account details. It's also worthwhile starting a Samsung account which will help back up Samsung specific files, Samsung's Find my Mobile etc.
You can skip the Samsung set up if you wish.
If you will have the same phone number as your previous Android device, Google won't need to update it when you have a sim installed.

    Enjoy the device.

And if you have one of the larger carriers, just walk into one of their stores,m with the new phone, and ask for a nanoSIM on your number for that phone. If it takes 5 minutes, someone is asleep. (The SIM card is really irrelevant - they just reset the database to associate that SIM card with your number. The longest SIM swaps I've seen are phones that no one knows how to get a SIM into - that can take a minute or two.)
