One day my phone would not charge so I looked up how to do it and it said to fix the prongs with a tooth pick within the ports. I did that and messed up the port and now my charger only worked when you bent it down. I kept my phone charging over night in that weird position and the next day the battery was just hot. I needed my phone for the week so my friend and I traded batteries so that I could use my phone but now he cannot charge his phone too. Is it the battery that caused this?

Just to be clear: your friend's phone wouldn't charge only when your battery is in it? If the battery is the common variable here, it may very well be the cause. How long have you had the phone? If your battery is aged, it may be on its way out.

Next time, try not to play with the ports - get your carrier's rep to do it. That way, if the ports get messed up, it's on them and they're required to compensate you for that!

When I posted this I did not realize that I was not signed in. To be clear my friend could not charge his phone when my battery was in it. Thankyou.

Then yes, it indeed seems to be your battery that is the culprit. What about the ports on your phone - are they still bent? You can always see about getting a replacement phone or send it in to be fixed; but that could be pricey. If all that is good, you can buy a new battery.
