Is my battery dead?

[AC Question]

One day my phone would not charge so I looked up how to do it and it said to fix the prongs with a tooth pick within the ports. I did that and messed up the port and now my charger only worked when you bent it down. I kept my phone charging over night in that weird position and the next day the battery was just hot. I needed my phone for the week so my friend and I traded batteries so that I could use my phone but now he cannot charge his phone too. Is it the battery that caused this?
