My phone automatically updated itself, and now when I switch it on it no longer asks me for my thumbprint or my backup password, but to draw a picture or use a 6 digit PIN. I don't recall setting up a PIN or picture (the one that you draw with straight lines on a grid ) although presumably I must have done. Each time I get it wrong it locks me out for 60 minutes so I am struggling to even guess what I set up originally.

I don't want to perform a factory reset as I will lose a lot of pictures and videos of my children.

How can I log in using my thumbprint or my back up password? Isn't that the whole point of having a back up password?

    Thanks,

    Paul
