LG G3 overheated, screen cracked w/out dropping?

One day I was on the phone with a family member, and as I went to end the call, note that I just tapped the end call button, not angry or anything, it just CRACKED. From the edge of the frame and half way up the phone in three separate places ( all originating to the crack on the frame. ) --- I didn't drop it, I didn't press down on it, and now the screen is cracked, and the digitizer is fried, nothing will respond on touch screen. Also, the phone was VERY overheated.

Is this a common problem with the LG G3 or did I just happen to snag a bad model?

Glass cracking can occur on many, and for all I know, all, phones. Contact the manufacturer's customer support for advice. They may replace.
