Why is my chosen ringtone not working?

I've recently gotten a BLU Android Lollipop phone and for the most part it works very well, but i have a problem with my ringtone selection for phone call not working, the phone continues to play the default tone. I can change all other apps tone and notifications just fine, but not the original Phone ringtone, i can select whatever tone just fine as long as it in the correct folder, but they do not work. I DID discover ONE thing though, when i remove my SD card from the phone, the ringtone i want works well (I had copied it over to the Phone storage ringtone directory), but not when the SD card is inserted. When SD card is inserted it goes back to playing the default ringtone no matter what ringtone i select, whether its the default ones or custom one.
