How to unlock a used phone from Google?

A

AC Question

I purchased a used Samsung Galaxy S6 from Ebay. The phone was not password protected or factory reset. I was receiving the previous owners emails on the phone when connected to wifi. I decided to do a factory reset but now I can't get past the setup where you login to the previous Google account. I may have been the one who screwed it up.

The previous owner has given me their login and passwords for Google but they don't work. The Sprint store said that I needed this to unlock it.

I have even tried having the previous owner delete the phone from his Google account but the phone still asks for the previous Google account.

Is there anything else I can try? Or would it be best to just return it to the previous owner?

Signed the over anxious cell phone user,
Erica

Hello Erica. I can hardly imagine selling a phone without wiping it first and making sure that it was ready for the buyer. Unless there are special circumstances, what you describe is almost beyond belief. How does the seller account for it?
