In Chrome under Windows, I can drag the left side of the URL line to the desktop and it becomes an icon which I can later click to bring up the original webpage. This works really well when there is a web page my parents enjoy. It is much easier for them than to bring up a browser and find the web page.

Is there a way to do this in android? It doesn't seem to work for Chrome.

Welcome to Android Central! When you're on the webpage you want to create a shortcut for, tap Menu>Add to Homescreen.
