Its not an alarm. I checked that already.
The volume is controlled based on "Media Volume" Not alarm volume.
Its a ASUS Nexus 7 running Android 6.0.1 and the June 1 patch level. The device prompted for an upgraded late last night and it started making this noise this morning.

There is no apparent way to stop the sound. Closed every app from recent and it continues. It appears to be the ringtone called Girtab.

I have an automation app called E-Robot that might be doing it but E-Robot used to just do it once, not repeating. The only way to make it stop is power off / on.

    Anything else to consider?

Have you tried to backup all data and do a factory data reset and don't install any apps to see if you still have the same problem?
