I recently bought a couple platform chargers from Amazon They don't seem to work with our S5

Is there a setting that needs to be turned on or off? I have removed the protective covering but that didn't work either. Please advise. Thx

I am guessing you are talking about wireless charging (Qi) ? Samsung Galaxy S5 does not support wireless charging out of the box. There are several aftermarket items which either fit between the battery and case or completely replace the back cover to make room for a Qi circuit and the necessary ribbon cable to touch the charging terminals.
