Best way to charge my cell phone in the car

When I'm traveling in my car and need to recharge my cell phone, which is the quickest or most efficient way to do so: Using a USB adapter that plugs into the cigarette lighter, or plugging directly into the USB port provided by the car's manufacturer?

Just wondering if there is a definitive answer why one may be better than the other, and the reason why? Many thanks for making me a more enlightened individual.

For the s5, you just need 5v/2a. This should work

For newer devices then there are faster chargers, but the s5 doesn't support them anyways

I prefer using a USB cig lighter adapter with Qualcomm fast charging feature and 2.0 Amp output for faster charging of my Galaxy S6. I think the built in USB ports in my Ford Explorer are only 1.5 Amps output.
