Samsung Gear S2 - Finding my father with Alzheimer's

Hi,

I'm looking at the Samsung Gear S2 as a possible solution for my mother when my father with Alzheimer's wanders off. He likes watches so we think he would be more likely to keep this with him. The Gear S2 doesn't need to be paired with a phone, which is good because he doesn't have one anymore. The Find My Phone part of the Gear S2 seems to just rely on having the phone make noise, but we need to see its location on a map because when he wanders it can be a long distance. Is the Gear S2 capable of this? Would the Gear S2 be able to be located using Google Device Manager? My mom's phone is an iPhone which may complicate the matter, maybe.

Or are you aware of a better option?

I know nothing about the Gear s2 but just read a review that said it doesn't have GPS. It does however have wifi so accessing public wifi may help
