The app manager shows data space allocated, but 0 app space. The icon is not to be found, either in apps page or file system. Can anyone help?

Hello. What device do you have. App Manager sounds like a Samsung. What happened to make it disappear. Did someone interfere with it. Is it not in the Apps - All, or Disabled column. There is usually more than one Phone app listed there.

I have a Samsung Galaxy tab 10. At one point I did not want phone service on it, but do not remember deleting anything (can you even delete system apps?). BTW, I posted first Q as guest.

Also, reset to factory defaults already, so few apps installed, and NO phone app.

    Thanks for registering.

There are different generations of 10 inch Galaxy Tab's (2/3/4/S) and wifi or carrier versions of these.
You may have had a pseudo phone dialler app supplied out of the box. I don't think any had the hardware to receive mobile cell signals, but I could be wrong.

Something like Hangouts Dialler may have been installed.

See some links below for others or a search for Samsung Galaxy Tab phone apps brings up some advice.

    Sorry I can't help more.
If you can get the exact model version you can search for a manual and find what was originally on it.
