Unlocking my phone

I bought a phone from a guy it's server is sprint I'm wanting to switch it to metro pcs I'm about to pay to get it unlocked will i really be able to just put in another sim and use it?

It depends on the phone. Metro PCS appears to run on T-Mobile networks, if that Sprint-branded phone (you don't say what phone) supports T-Mobile bands then it should work.

So just pay for the unlock code than take out the sim card and do what put the code in or put in my metro pcs sim?

You first need to be sure the phone in question supports the provider you want to use. Again, a Sprint-branded phone may not support T-Mobile bands. I wouldn't spend any money until you can confirm that.
