Why won'the my camera change back from video setting

When I try to take a picture it goes to the video setting and not to the camera,, why?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Do you mean that when you tap the Camera shortcut icon on your homescreen, it opens to the videocamera by default, and you can't get to the still camera?

On some camera apps, you take a still camera shot by tapping the screen, and take a video by pressing the button that has a red dot in it. Is that what you see?
