There are a few apps on my phone that are draining my battery and I did not individually add them they seem to belong to a bigger app ie. Google

Flipboard is not a Google app. Unfortunately, it sounds like it was a factory-installed app which can not be completely removed. What you CAN do is uninstall any updates and then disable it. This applies to any app that was installed on the device when you first booted it.

Sounds like you have a Samsung device? Flipboard was pre-installed on my Samsung tablet also...

Yeah you can usually only disable these apps. But once they are disabled, they should not affect your battery.
