Why is my micro sd card sometimes detected and sometimes not?

My external micro sd card has been working perfectly in my Android cellphone for a few months, and one day my phone just didn't detect it.
I removed the card and inserted it again, and it worked, and I thought all is well.
The next day the exact thing happend again, and the next day and the next... Now it happens 2 to 5 times a day. ???

So the card works, but sometimes suddenly isn't detected, until I remount it.

I have tried cleaning it and securing it with presstick, but the problem persists.

Is there a solution to my problem?

Try another card, or the same card in a different device. That ought to tell you the source of the trouble.

It sounds like a physical connection issue. Either the electrical contacts on the phone connector or the card itself could be tarnished/corroded, or perhaps the springs are weak and a little flexing of the phone causes disconnect.

I have had certain phone makes not like off-branded cards, too... It may be that the phone does not get along well with that particular brand of memory chip.
