'My always on display was working however now it only displays time, alarm and battery condition along the right edge no matter if I always have the AOD on or off. Any idea please?

So I'm facing the same issue, my dads phone always on display doesn't work, but on the right side on the edge panel there is the time but extremely dim, so dim that even I barely can see it. I checked the updates but everything is up to date ,the AOD double checked. Also tried messing around with settings, the only thing I didn't do is to reset the phone since it's brand new. I don't think it matters, but it's the international one.
