How to get past 'To start Android, enter your password' screen?

Hi,

My Samsung S4 died as the battery went completely flat. I tried restarting the phone after charging it but I'm unable to get past this screen. I don't have any password on my phone only a security pattern and have never came across this issue before. I've also checked previous threads for this issue and no one seems to have a solution. Help! any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
