Bootloader won't unlock

Ok so I am completely new to this, so you'll have to bare with me if I don't know what certain things mean. I have a Droid Razr M that is currently running 4.1.2. I'm trying to get it to Lollipop (although I'll settle for KitKat). I followed the directions for unlocking the bootloader, but to no avail. When I used my Mac, everything went smoothly, except my phone read: "Phone Locked Status Code 0". When I tried it on the PC, it had no effect on my phone at all, with every other line reading: "adb is not recognized as an internal or external command". Is there any fix for this? Or better yet, is there an easier way to get KitKat or Lollipop running on my phone, whether through cyanogenmod or through other means? Thanks!
