I'm trying to find a galaxy s5 that I can use with Fido in Toronto and Golan in Israel so I thought I'd compare the providers frequencies but now I see that Golan uses HSPA as opposed to GSM. Does that mean I have to find a HSPA and GSM compatible device?

Hello. Afaik most networks are GSM apart from Verizon in the US.
HSPA probably means you can only receive 3G data speeds on that service instead of 4G.

Check GSMarena. They usually have all the bands listed for each phone.

I've got some unlocked ones since TMO is bring your own device.
TMO was calling their 4G, HSPA and HSPA+
