My wife and I got identical phones about 4 years ago. During about the same week both started heating and running down their batteries in a short time. If I look at Task Manager and close running programs it makes no difference. My wife has replaced her phone. I look at the running applications, often don't know what they are, or how much power they drain. How can I tell.

I suspect that some upgrade was installed on our phones and it caused our phones to run too much.

The Sprint rep said to buy a new phone. I think that some new application was placed on our phones.

    Welcome to AC!
Apps can be installed by you or come preloaded with a firmware. S 2 is a pretty old phone,it's been 5 years since it came out and the new apps require more computing power, even if they stay idle, for background syncing, and your procesors might be running at full speed even thou you're not using it. Check your apps and the battery as well,a 5 year old battery might have some problems.
