When i change my lock screen security from just swipe to pin it doesn't change

my phone keeps coming unlocked in my pocket, so i occasionally change the lock screen security to pin instead of just swipe. When i go into settings and make a pin, and change it to that setting, then i lock my phone, and unlock it, its still just on swipe, no pin
