    Welcome as a new member.

    Safe Mode disables third-party apps temporarily, and is used as a diagnostic to test whether any such apps are causing trouble. If the trouble stops while in Safe Mode, that is what is indicated. Reboot to normal mode and identify the app responsible - which may take some time - and either:
    1) Disable it, or

    2) Clear Cache, Clear Data, Force Stop and Uninstall to be completely rid of it.

    Safe Mode for Samsung devices is described here - for the Note 4 in this case, but applicable to other models:

    Please excuse my tardy reply....I seem to have missed your posts.
    The answer to your question about identifying a troublesome app is that you generally start with the app downloaded just before the trouble started, using the method I described above for uninstalling, and work backwards until the problem stops.

    The phone freezing in Safe Mode is beyond my understanding. I'll pass this on to others, who may know.

    Best Buy could do that for you. If you do it yourself you may trip knox and void warranty. Personally I would return phone. I would try factory reset before flashing firmware
