Spam or hacked?

[AC Question]

I have an LG Escape 2. Today I've gotten 4 texts from people I know....(from my contacts) with a download attached. When I tried to open they won't (failed) . After the 2nd time I asked the sending contact and they said they never sent anything. I deleted them all but now am worried I got hacked somehow....? How can I fix this going forward? it shows it is from their correct phone numbers....
