I got a HTC android phone for a gift and I want to know if I can buy minutes for it or how to get a number so I can use the phone. The person who bought it for me is over seas and I have no contact with him right now can you help me?

You will have to consider the many packages and tariffs offered by the different networks, or at least by those whose signal is good in your area. You can use a signal coverage checker - search online - for the latter, although speaking to neighbours may also be worthwhile. When you've decided the best carrier for you, go to their store and arrange everything, or you could buy one of their SIMs at participating stores and pay for PAYG credit. But you really need to work out in advance what is the best deal for you....PAYG or SIM-only contract, and if the latter, what is the best package of call minutes, SMS texts and data allowance. There are many combinations, so choose carefully.
