text notification sound doesn't work, help!

Samsung Galaxy 6 Edge. For the past several days when I receive a text there is no notification sound. I have checked, rechecked and changed sounds, but still nothing. I have rebooted and restarted many times. I have shut down and waited then turned back on. All to no avail. I have searched the web and found no help. Any ideas what I can do? Thank you.

Open messaging, touch more, touch notifications and you'll have a menu with the settings you need. If they are on and you are running Marshmallow, you also have a notifications setting in your main settings menu where you can turn off notifications from individual apps. Finally, in your volume settings, you have individual setting for notifications, separate from ringtones... Check all these and see what happens.. Cheers
