So... I've searched into this for 6 hours now but didn't find an answer. Hope you can help me.

It's pretty simple. I rooted my phone a year ago or so, and since then I haven't updated my phone. At first, when I tried to, it rebooted and sent me to the TWRP screen. And when I rebooted through it, my phone would function for about 20 seconds and reboot again, every time. So what I had to do was to use the Wipe function.

The problem is, even after unrooting and formating and doing everything I could, the problem is still there: I can't update my phone without it turning off every time and I have to Wipe again. All I want is to have an updated android.

My phone is a Moto G II.

Are you sure you're fully unrooted? You can do a factory data reset and you will still be rooted. SU is installed on the system level.

If you are truly unrooted, use a root checker app to check, and you have stock recovery installed, you shouldn't have a problem. If for some reason you do have a problem, find and download the firmware and side load it.

Are you using a carrier device? For instance, are you using a Verizon device on Tmobile? Sim card has a lot to do with it as I just recently discovered.
