Cannot save a contact to home screen

Tried to download widget as recommended on forum ... doesn't work. This used to work find. Don't know what happened!

Samsung Galaxy 6 ...Contact Direct Dial. Recommended as a way to save contacts to my home screen, which no longer appears on my contacts "more' menu.

Welcome to Android Central! Long-press any empty part of your homescreen, then tap Add Widget. Look for the Direct Dial widget, long-press it, and drag it to the homescreen. When you release it, the Contacts app should open up, prompting you to select a contact and a specific phone number. Does that work?
